When Maria Gangemi was a small child growing up in Sicily, she used to get fascinated by the handmade shoes that were on show in store windows. But what held her interest were the artists who created the shoes. Along with our CEO, Cheryl Kaplan, a giant of the fashion business, Maria was determined to protect the centuries old, generational craft and livelihood of these craftsmen. Together, they founded M.Gemi, a modern, sustainable mission to create beautiful things that matter.
